We received some shocking news from the university benefits department last week also that notified us that because of my "part time" family status in the fall semester, our benefits will increase by about $400 per month. We were horrified and made an appointment to go in and talk with the benefits office to see if we had any options. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that we do, so we are just going to have to eat it for six months until I am back to full time in the spring. Very disappointing and unexpected, will have to revamp our budget again. And will be looking for a new job all fall, so we don't have to keep going through these roller coasters of emotions and disappointments with this job!
Had a baby dr. visit yesterday and all is well with Iddy Biddy. Very strong heartbeat that is really easy to find now. Lots of movement as always, and strong hiccups still. This was the first visit where the dr. checked my cervix, and much to our surprise, she declared us 2cm dilated and thinning out!!! We were shocked and excited (and nervous). She said some people stay slightly dilated for a while before actually going into labor, so it doesn't mean much. To me it means, hurry up and finish getting ready!!! Also, yeah first 2cm without any work, hope it's all this easy. HA HA. When we had our childbirth class today we told our teacher what the dr. said and she looked equally surprised that we were that dilated so far from our due date. (We're at week 36 1/2) So who knows, maybe Iddy Biddy will have a July birthday! We have narrowed down our names to one boy name and one girl name for sure now. In class today we got to watch some birthing videos and learn about all types of interventions. We always finish with some relaxation and breathing exercises, which make me feel like taking a nap!
The nursery is pretty much all set up now including changing table with supplies, glider and ottoman, dresser with unisex clothes, and crib with bedding and mobile. Still getting exciting deliveries in the mail daily. Yesterday we received a wonderful soothing baby bath and spa from the awesome Buffington's, and today we received a fun decorative rug and receiving blankets that match our bedding set and cloth diapers from my wonderful Aunt Beth and Uncle Chris. Thank you guys!!! So many wonderful gifts! We also finally installed the carseat in the car but have to go get it inspected to make sure we did it right before that much anticipated trip to the hospital. Also have started setting things aside to pack for the hospital. Not much left to do now but find a Pediatrician (still narrowing it down), set up diaper service, finish baby laundry and sorting, buying last few things we still need, and cleaning the uber dirty house!
OH MY! That is SO GOOD that you are dilated already! I bet your labor will be easy (relatively speaking). Very cool, and maybe you will go a bit early, that would be great. I better get a care package sent out!
ReplyDeleteThe nursery looks great as do you two.
Way to go with the recital, Shannon!
Grant's mom told me that generally for your first baby that you give birth after the expected date and then the more children you have, the sooner they arrive. So we will see.
